Song of the Book
The song starts of calmly, but then it starts to get a bit intense. This happens several times in the book as well. The song focuses a bit more in the beginning, but it talks about the whole book. The pearl that once promised peace and prosperity brought Kino and Juana only tragedy.
Song of the Family
I chose this song because it means that the family will stay together and that everyone loves each other, no matter what. It also represents happiness and talks about how everyone supports each other. The song talks about being with the people you feel comfortable and happy around. Kino felt this way every morning with his family.
Song of Evil
Whenever Kino hears the Song of Evil, he feels insecure and senses danger around him. Because of the Song of Evil, Kino is scared to trust anyone. Even though the song does not have lyrics, it represents how Kino feels danger everywhere he goes. It also represents how Kino started of as a good person, but the pearl slowly turned him into an “animal” as he calls himself. The Song of Evil plays when the scorpion threatens his son and when the thieves attack his family.
Song of the Pearl (end of book)
At the beginning of the book, Kino would not let anyone even touch the pearl. As the story went on, Kino realized t the pearl was his real enemy and that if he didn't find the pearl, none of this would have happened. The song relates to the Song of the Pearl because it talks about all the bad things that the person has done and how he never wants her again. Kino threw back the pearl into the ocean where it belonged.
Song of the Enemy
Whenever the Song of the Enemy played, Kino sensed some sort of existence. Whether it was a person, a thing, or just a feeling, Kino always sensed that someone of something was around. He sensed dishonesty and malice. When Kino found the pearl, he noticed that many people we wanting to steal it from him since it had great value. Many of those people became Kino's enemies. We knew who were some of his enemies, but others we didn't, and they were described as black figures.
Song of the Pearl (beginning of book)
When Kino finds the pearl, he and Juana are happy by the thought that they can finally afford the treatment for Coyotito and for him to go to school. Kino also thinks of all the other things that he can do with the money. This song describes how Kino is feeling and all the things he can finally have with the money of the pearl. The singers talk about all the things they can be and buy if they were billionaires, and Kino tells his neighbors about all the things he can have with the pearl.
