Personality Disorders in Disney Characters
Transcript of Personality Disorders in Disney Characters
Flounder (The Little Mermaid)
Paranoid Personality Disorder
Flounder has this personality disorder because in the beginning of the movie when him and Ariel are exploring the shipwreck, he is constantly looking behind them, and worrying about how they shouldn't be there and thinking something bad is going to happen when he has no reason to.
Scar- The Lion King
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Scar has antisocial personality disorder because he clearly has complete disregard for other peoples rights. His antisocial behaviors, such as killing his brother, and trying to kill Simba, are accompanied by no remorse. He is aggressive and lies about many things. Also, Scar continues these behaviors even though the consequences are most likely social rejection and severe punishment.
Avoidant Personality Disorder
Elsa has avoidant personality disorder because she wants a normal sister relationship with Anna, but she is so scared that if she opens up, then she could end up hurting her sister, and she doesn't want everyone to disapprove of her. She shuts herself out from everyone's lives despite her want to be a beloved queen, just because she is afraid of what people will think of her if she loses control.
The Evil Queen
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
The queen believes that she is the fairest of them all, and that she should get all the attention because of it. She uses her mirror constantly to make sure she is still the best, and she clearly lacks empathy because she is willing to kill her step daughter to remain the fairest in the land.
The White Rabbit- Alice In Wonderland
Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder
The rabbit has this disorder because he is constantly worrying about the time. He can't stop and talk to anyone because he is too afraid that he will be late. He is constantly checking his watch and is very anxious about getting to his destination on time. The reason he has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder rather than OCD is because he doesn't partake in meaningless rituals, he is only inflexible on rules and orderliness.
Dependent Personality Disorder
Snow White has this disorder because she cannot be alone. As soon as her step-mother kicks her out, she finds the dwarfs because she can't be alone and make her own decisions. She also sings about how one day her prince will come and help her escape her evil step-mother.The fact that she needs other people to help her get rid of the Queen when she should be doing it by herself are symptoms of this disorder. She won't take initiative by herself.
