"Warning!: Be Aware of Tobacco Use!" By: Christine Charity Tomas "Terrible Effects of Smoking on Pregnant Women" "Smoking Teens" "Horrible Effects of Smoking" To begin with, as all of you should know, smoking is highly hazardous to your health, for it harms every organ in your body! Moreover, just a simple act of smoking can increase your health risks, such as for men and women: coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, lung diseases, acute myeloid leukemia, bladder cancer, cancer of the cervix, cancer of the esophagus, kidney cancer, cancer of the larynx (voice box), cancer of the oral cavity (mouth), pancreatic cancer, cancer of the pharynx (throat), stomach cancer, for women: infertility, preterm delivery, stillbirth, low birth weight, sudden infant death syndrome, postmenopausal, and hip fracture. For sure, you would not want to have any of these. If so, you better quit smoking, so that you may enjoy living your only precious life longer with your loved ones! But, worst of all, smoking causes serious death! Wow! I bet some of you didn't know about that! Well, good thing that I told you now, and if you've been smoking, don't fret, for there's still a second chance for you to resist that cause of death or any kind of horrible causes by just simply running away from the use of tobacco or any kind of cigarettes and just start living a healthy life. First of all, women should know that they SHOULD NOT smoke, especially when they are pregnant! However, though they hear so many counsels and advices about dangers of smoking and alcohol use during their pregnancy, they just don't listen and even continue on using it no matter what others say about it! Referring to all pregnant women out there, please listen to what I've got to say right now about smoking during your pregnancy. First off, smoking can seriously harm you and your baby, and when you smoke, your baby is exposed to dangerous chemicals, such as nicotine, carbon monoxide, and tar. These chemicals can lessen the amount of oxygen that your baby gets, and oxygen is very significant for your baby in order for your baby to grow healthy. Moreover, not only will smoking harm and destroy your lungs, but as well as your babies! Worst of all, babies who are born to women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to be born with birth defects such as cleft lip or palate, prematurely, at low birthweight, and underweight for the number of weeks of pregnancy. Additionally, babies who are born prematurely or at low birthweight are at risk of other health problems, including lifelong disabilities (such as cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and learning problems), but worse, is death. And so, mothers, if you don't want this to happen to your precious babies, then I suggest that you quit the habit of smoking, or else, your babies will have to suffer these consequences. So, mothers, just please stop your smoking and don't make any further excuses, for there are no reasons to have excuses in smoking during your pregnancy. Like how Edith Zittler quoted it, "The best way to stop smoking is to just stop - no ifs ands or buts. " To begin with, I've heard that every day in the United States, nearly 3,000 children under the age of eighteen start smoking, and about 1,200 people die from smoking activities. Wow! That is extremely shocking to hear about. I just can't imagine that that's how much people use tobacco or other kinds of cigarettes and even die from them, what's mostly shocking about this is that they are mostly young children! Moreover, as soon as these young children start smoking at a very early age, they continue on doing it throughout their adulthood. Now that's very dangerous! For these poor children can lose their lives quickly than those who start at a late age! I just can't bare hearing these kinds of news, especially when the victims are children! And so, parents, while it's still early, please stop your children from using tobacco, drugs, or alcohol. Also, if you know that they are with friends who do them or if they are in any kind of environment that often do this activity, you must take the first action and pull them away from it before it's too late to do so. Most importantly, parents, if you are the ones who do it, please don't do it in front of your children because they'll think that it's fine for them to do it if you do it also and if your family inhales the smoke of the cigarette, it can simply affect their lungs! Truly, what you are or what you do is who you are or is what kind of person that you are and will become. So, please, I beg you parents or elders to do something about your young precious children being influenced or involved in any sort of smoking, drugs, or alcohol because it will affect who they are and what they'll become until their future. You must act while it's still early, or else it'll be just too late for your act.
