(Twin Towers) Parícutin Volcano Splash! Splash! I watched the tourists get drenched by Niagara Falls. In my perspective, Niagara Falls should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. One reason that Niagara Falls should be on the list, is because of its characteristics. According to Wikipedia, Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls. These falls include American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls, all located on the border of Ontario, Canada and New York. Standing at 167 ft. tall, with a flow rate of 64,750 ft. cubed per second. Scientists estimate that Niagara Falls will cease to exist in about 50,000 years from now, because of its 1 ft. per year erosion rate. Therefore, let's enjoy it while we can! Ontario, Canada New York American Falls Horseshoe
Falls Map Another reason that Niagara Falls should be a wonder is, because of geology. Niagara Falls was created by the Wisconsin glaciation about 10,000 years ago, as stated by Wiki. The Wisconsin glaciation was the same thing that created the Great Lakes. When all of the ice melted, it became the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls. That's a lot of ice! The final reason that Niagara Falls should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World is, because of its impact on industry and commerce. Not only is Niagara a beautiful scene, it is also very useful to people. The falls were used to generate hydroelectricity. In the olden days, the electricity was used to power lights and local machinery. The Niagara Falls also has bridges and canals along the Niagara River for transportation. The lights in the North are dancing about beautifully across the sky. In my point of view, the Northern Lights should keep their spot on the list of Seven Wonders. A reason that the Northern Lights ought to remain on the roll call is because of its beauty. The combination of colors that are evident in the aurora are quite comely. Some of the colors included are: green, pale green, pink, red, blue, yellow, and violet. Most colors vary. How these colors are illuminated is what makes the Northern Lights beautiful. A second reason that the Northern Lights should keep their place on the list is, because of how they are formed. As said by Northern Lights Centre, the Northern Lights are created by collisions of electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the Earth's atmosphere. These collisions are what create the colorful, dancing glows. The color part of Aurora Borealis comes from different molecules in the atomosphere. A third reason that the Northern Lights should keep their slot on the list is, beacuse of the legends of the lights. There are many legends about the lights. The Inuits of Alaska believed that the lights were spirits of the animals they hunted. Menominee Indians of Wisconsin believed that the lights indicated the spirits of great fisherman and hunters. In Roman myths, Aurora is the goddess of dawn. Even today there are many beliefs. I believe that Parícutin Volcano should stay on the list of the Seven Wonders of the World. First, the Parícutin Volcano should stay on the list, because of its astounding history. The volcano is the only volcano thats birth has been witnessed by humans. It started in a cornfield owned by a farmer and his wife. The famer, Dionisio Pulido noticed a fissure in his cornfield. One day, Dionisio and his wife were burning shrubbery in their cornfield, and all of a sudden the earth started shaking and up came a volcano. The volcano grew very quickly, in just one week the volcano was about 5 stories tall. It was the fastest growing volcano ever. In the volcano's first year 2 villages not far from the volcano, Parícutin, and San Juan Parangaricutiro, were buried in ash and lava. Secondly, the volcano should stay on the list, because of its characteristics. Parícutin is a cinder cone volcano, located in Michoacán, Mexico. It is about 9,186 feet tall and 3,030 feet wide. It is currently the youngest volcano in North America. Lastly, Parícutin should remain on the list, because of the stories of Parícutin. Parícutin's lava covered about 10 square miles of land says Parícutin.com and its volcanic sand covered about 20 square miles of land. Its ashes fell to Mexico City which is about 200 miles away! In the last six months of its life, it took many people with it.
Its life ended in 1952. I think that the Great Wall of China should remain on the list of Seven Wonders of the world. The Great Wall of China should stay as a wonder, because of its characteristics and condition. The Great Wall's construction started in the 600's B.C. It was made for the purpose of fortification. It is about 13,171 miles in size. It was made without modern technology, using stone, brick, tamped earth, and other materials to create this work of art. Some parts of the wall are in disrepair, while most of it has stayed up through the centuries. The Great Wall of China should also stay on the roster, because of its notable areas. Since the Great Wall is so big, there are some notable areas. For instance, there is a part of the wall that once appeared silver due to the metal in the stone that was used. That same part of the wall is only two to three stories tall, shorter than the rest of the wall. Jiumenkou is the only portion of the wall that was built as a bridge. There are about 67 watchtowers in the area known as Jinshanling. These towers along with the wall in general were used to defend China. The last reason that the Great Wall of China must stay on the line-up is, because of the belief that it is visible from space. The Great Wall of China is believen to be the only man made structure that is visible from space. As described by NASA, it is not like we think it is. The wall is only visble to an aided eye from Earth's low orbit. The theory has become a large belief that is only part true. Some people might say that since it is not one of the originals, It should not be on the list. Well, it is the only tower in the world that leans to one side. The Leaning Tower of Pisa should be a Seven Wonder because of its characteristics. The tower is approximately 183.3 feet tall, 50 feet wide, and slanted 12 feet and 10 inches to the right. Another reason that the Tower of Pisa should be a Seven Wonder is because of its history. At one point the tower was closed down for awhile, since the 1990's. It was closed down to prevent tourists from danger. What danger was there? Around that time the tower started to tilt. How, you ask? Well the soil Location of the Leaning Tower of Pisa The Leaning Tower of Pisa 183.3 feet (8 stories) 50 feet 12 feet 10 inches I support the opinion that the Tower of Babel should be listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Some people might say that it should not be a wonder because it has been gone for a long time. However, I think that it should be a wonder because it is an ancient part of history. One reason that it should be a wonder is because of its characteristics. The Tower of Babel is exactly 300 feet tall and CRASH! BOOM! I can see planes smashing into the Twin Towers. I believe that the Twin Towers should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Some people might say that the World Trade Center should not be one of the Seven Wonders of the world because it has been broken down and gone for a long time. Well, when they were still up it was a great building in history. One reason that the Twin Towers should be apart of the list of Wonders, is because of its characteristics. For two years, the Towers held the record for the tallest buildingin the world. Discluding the antenna spire, (359 feet) the towers are around 165 feet tall. 4,300,000 square feet of floor area make up the Twin Towers. To top it all off, the each tower has 110 floors and 99 elevators. The Twin Towers Another reason why the Twin Towers should be a wonder is because of its notable areas. The two notable ares are the Top of the World Trade Center Observatories and the Windows on the World restaurant. The Tower did not let many visitors in. That is until the observation deck came along. The observation deck was a place in the building that allowed people to see the entire city. The restaurant was the highest money making restaurant in the U.S. Observation Deck Windows on the
World The final reason that the Twin Towers should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World is because of its eventful history. On February 13, 1975 a fire broke out on the 9th to 14th floors. The 11th floor was damaged the most, as said my Wiki. They fixed it up and the Tower still lives on. On February 26, 1993 there was a bombing in the underground garage of the North Tower. Six people die and the others were left gasping for air. There was a 100 foot hole blasted in the tower. Yet it lived on. Finally, there is 9/11. 9/11 is when terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers. It was then that the Twin Towers were destroyed. Today, We have a memorial of these two magnificent towers.
