Who is Aphrodite?
Aphrodite lived and is originally from the Greek myth; daughter of Zeus, King of the gods and Dione an early goddess. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, desire and beauty. She is also known as Venus, Lady of Cyprus and Lady of Kythira. Aphrodite always wore this magical gold girdle around her waist making everyone desire her. In a second version of her birth, she was born in the sea of Paphos from her fathers remains that were thrown in by Kronos.
Aphrodite had her strengths, she is responsible for supplying the world with love. Aphrodite has the ability to attract people towards her, she can easily get people to do work for her and have men fall in love with her. She also had the characteristics of being graceful, charming and having devotion. Aphrodite's symbols were always the girdle, seashell and a mirror.
She was connected to nature and human beings. Aphrodite was the most attractive goddess, she controlled people over her love and beauty. She had the powers to persuade everyone and was able to bring the death back to life with enough emotion using her charm speak power. People prayed to her for a good husband and a caring wife. Without her there would be no love on Earth. She also helped people open their eyes to their secret love.
There are several stories about the greek goddess Aphrodite, but the most famous one of them all is "Aphrodite and Adonis". Adonis is a muscular beauty. It is a classic myth about love, rejection and jealously. It involves the Adonis' parents, his mother Myrrha was beautiful and his father was King Cinyrus of Cyprus, who was actually the father of Myrrha.
Goddess Aphrodite was jealous of his mothers beauty and caused the girl to unite with her own father. When Cinyrus found out that he had been tricked, he chased Myrrha with a sword, wanting to kill both her and her unborn child. Aphrodite turned Myrrha into a myrrh tree.
