Overall Placement Options Field education has been identified as the signature pedagogy of the social work profession. Student-Centered Learning I believe field education is a form of experiential learning that integrates practice experience with critical thinking, self-evaluation,and reflection supported by thoughtful guidance and feedback from individual field instructors, field liaisons and academic faculty and staff. Graduate level field education is a process that focuses on training and orienting the next generation of advanced professional social workers and helps transmit classroom knowledge directly back to the community. Field education is a dynamic process that develops over the course of a student's degree plan and can take many different paths. All members of the Field Education Team must be available, flexible and ready to support student needs. It is through the challenges that arise in field that the strongest opportunities for learning lie. I believe field education is fundamentally about inspiring students to believe in themselves and their skill set, to love the profession of social work and to commit to seeking justice for all. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
