Transcript of Gregor Mendel

He was born on the 22nd of July in 1822 in Heinzendorf and died on January 6, 1884. He was a scientist and botanist.
Gregor Mendel
Gregor Mendel
He focused on recessive and dominant genes and traits, discovering patterns of inheritance.
Ideas/Influences of Gregor Mandel
Mendel founded the science of genetics and helped identify dominant and recessive traits along with the rules of heredity. His discoveries greatly impacted what we know about genetics.
His Ideas' Impact on Science
Mendel taught at Brünn Modern school and while he was still alive and his discoveries are still being taught today. His work has impacted schools everywhere.
Reaction by Institution to his Ideas
Francis Bacon and Rene Descartes both helped to create the scientific method in which Gregor Mendel used for his pea plant experiment. The scientific method helped keep his experiments organized and helped him make the experiments more repeatable. The scientific method is consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.
Who Influenced him From Past Scientists
Mendel's discoveries and studies helped us better understand genetics. Now we are able to control different traits that our livestock and crops will have.
Reaction by People to his Ideas
His ideas on the scientific method and how scientists should experiment then draw conclusions afterward caused a change in how how science experiments and so on were viewed completely. His ideas had huge impacts on people and institutions in the scientific community and in science itself.
Francis Bacon
He thought the same way as Bacon in that scientists sometimes should forget to reject new ideas but Descartes took a new approach to this idea. To gain knowledge he relied on mathematics and logic. He believed that everything should be doubted until it was proven though mathematics and and logic

Rene Descartes
He was best known for his pea-plant experiments and his theories on genetics.
