Choose your AEI Experience!
AEI offers placements in over 10 countries around the world. Visit AEI’s website to look through these experiences and learn all the details. Then select your placement based on the country you wish to visit, the species you wish to work with, the project that interests you and the skills you would like to use and learn. AEI’s partners run their programs year-round. This means you can choose when you want to travel and for how long. Travel by yourself, with a friend or family member or with a larger group. Whether you are looking for a medical placement, or just want to help out in any way needed, AEI will have a placement for you.

If you are interested in using an AEI Experience as a clinical placement, AEI will work with you and your school to facilitate the process. AEI Experiences also qualify for continuing education credits from many professional organizations.

Send in your Paperwork!
Once you send in your contract, waiver and deposit you will receive your AEI training kit. This will include the Placement Partner’s Volunteer Manual, and the AEI Travel Manual for the country you will be visiting. You will receive your Volunteer Card (your travel insurance and travel discounts) one month before your departure.

Before you leave, we will need a few more documents from you, including photo identification, vaccination records, a doctor’s note, and any relevant transcripts or professional licenses you may have.

Once you know your flight itinerary, AEI’s Volunteer Coordinator will arrange your airport pick-up and let you know all the details.
We help you every step of the way as you prepare for your big adventure. Need help with fundraising? AEI provides fundraising support and mentoring. Interested in organizing an excursion in the country you will be visiting? AEI can work with you to recommend reputable and reliable companies. We work hard to ensure your experience will be a success and will meet all your expectations. AEI Experiences include your airport pick-up (from the closest airport), accommodation, meals (unless otherwise specified), travel insurance, training, emergency support and more. By working with our partners, AEI is able to keep its volunteer fees as low as possible and take care of all the details for you. All that’s left is for you to volunteer and have the experience of your life!

Submit your Application!
Once you have selected the AEI Experience that most interests you, it is time for you to submit your application. This is your chance to let us know more about you and your interests, experiences and goals. Applications are made on-line, and once submitted you will receive an email from AEI’s Volunteer Coordinator. Each applicant then has a Skype interview that lasts around 45 minutes. There is no need to prepare for this interview – we just want to get to know you, answer any questions you might have and make sure the placement is a perfect fit for you!
