Scientists usually have two

main purposes behind their writing With a partner, take 10 minutes to record the differences between writing in the sciences (including engineering) and writing in the humanities (including history)
to inform the community of new discoveries

to help the scientific community arrive at a consensus about the "truth" Humanities' purpose is usually to find an answer, not a single correct answer
