Toussaint Louverture was a successful military commander because of his dedication to the service and his great military skills.
He first starts as a doctor for his troops and also commands a small group of slave soldiers. When he becomes a military commander, he gains a reputation for running an orderly and for training his men in both geurilla tactics and the European shoulder to shoulder style of war.
Toussaint Louverture then starts to support the French. After Toussaint Louverture and his army stops the revolt, he then tries to fight the British. Toussaint Louverture defeats the British and conquers Siant Domingue and after conquering Saint Domingue, he takes over as ruler.
All of Toussaints Louvertures accomplishments in his service are what made him a great military commander
RULER OF SAINT DOMINGUE
Toussaint Louverture had a great aspect while he was ruler, he cared about the people of Saint Domingue.
When he became ruler in 1798, he made it clear that he cared about his people by creating a constitution. he created it in July 1801. He also has a proclamation for Saint Domingue also made in 1801.
Both the citizens of Saint Domingue helped Toussaint Louverture as he gelped his citizens and gave him the power to become a great ruler.
LIBERATOR OF SLAVES
Toussaint Louverture cared for his race and fought for what was right.
He was born a slave and worked as a herder, a coachman, and overseer of other slaves. Soon after, his owner granted Toussaint Louverture his freedom. When there was a reusal of ending slavery in Saint Domingue, people were killed and plantations were burned to the ground. When this happened, Toussaint Louverture arose as a leader. In 1793, Toussaint Louverture made an army of 4,000 troops to fight against the French. In 1794, the French banished all slavery in Saint Domingue.
Toussaint Louverture was a great liberator of slaves because he fought for his people. His leadership made him realize that his instincts were great and he could become a great ruler.
