As old as civilization
"Accounting" came from the french word "Compter"
Ancient Roman military started the accounting concept
Participated in the development of cities, trade, and the concepts of wealth and numbers.
What Accountants Do
Every business needs an accountant
Analyze financial information
Prepare financial reports and determine
-Profit and loss
Make sure bills are paid on time
Prevent embezlement
4 Year College
Bachelor's Degree
-Most employers require at least a Bachelor's Degree, some are looking for Master's Degree.
To become a CPA, you must have 150 credit hours, 1600 hours of work experience, and pass the CPA exam
Bookkeeping and paraprofessional jobs require an associate's degree.

90 private colleges and universities offer an accounting degree program in PA
