Transcript of Year 7 - Formal elements of drawing

Working in pairs, sitting back to back, one person will describe the image on the piece of paper...
The other person will try and draw what is being described....
*CHEAT!
You are not allowed to say what it is they should draw
Write down all the ways you can be successful in art, in the back of your book.....
*At the beginning of every lesson you should:
Quietly wait outside
Come in calmly
Get out your planner (ready so I can stamp it!)
Look out for the starter on the board to get on with, in silence
*Hand in homework on time
*You are welcome in the department on Tuesday lunch times to continue with work or work on your homework
*Help each other
*Take risks, enjoy and don't be afraid to be creative!

Due 15th October
Learning Objective
* Add tone to your animal drawing, turning it into a FORM

*Use your pencil carefully and lightly, building up layers slowly

How does your shading compare?
Now look at the worksheet we filled in last lesson. Write down how you have imrpoved your shading today

Homework
Find an image of an animal's eye on the internet (it doesn't need to be in colour)
And stick it on a clean page in your book
Learning Objective
* You will attempt to 'express' different textures using pencil

* You will use the pencil 'effectively' to describe different textures

* You will include a range of tones and marks to creatively and imaginatively define textures

To start with....
Can you work out what the animal is from the description.
Number your answers in your book

Homework
Using the image you found of an animal eye, produce a TONAL drawing underneath it, using pencil
Due next lesson
To start with:
What is texture?
The way a 3-dimentional object feels when touched
or
The visual feel of a 2-dimentional work.

Take rocks for example. A 3D rock might feel rough or smooth and definately feels hard when picked up. A painter dipicting rock would create these qualities through use of colour, line, shape and tone.
In the wallet provided there are a range of different objects that feel different. Take them out and feel them all. Now try to match the texture of the material to the animal by placing it in the box under the image. Work as a team on your table to complete the task.
You have some post-it notes on your table. On these write KEY WORDS to describe the different textures of the animals skin. Stick them around the animal you are describing.

Task 1
Task 2
Each animal on your sheet would feel different to touch.
To start with:
Swap books with the person next to you.
Write down what they have done well on their animal drawing
(WWW) and Even better if (EBI)
Target setting
Stick the target sheet on the back of your book.

Write your name on it
Homework
Find an image of an animal's eye and stick it in your book, then produce a TONAL drawing underneath it, using pencil
Due 3rd November
Can you guess the animal from the texture?
Write the answer in the back of your book
Hedgehog spikes
Lizard's skin
Peacock feathers
Leopard skin
Elephant skin
Sheep's wool
Learning Objective
* You will use a simple template and begin to draw pattern - level 3

* You will choose a more complicated template and attempt to use pattern to describe texture - level 4

* You will choose a challenging template, or draw your own and successfully add pattern that describes tone and texture - Level 5
To start with....
Can you work out what the animal is from the description.
Number your answers in your book
1."I live in very hot climates, have large feet and can carry people on my back as well as storing my own food water for days....."

2."I have very large ears, love hot places and am the biggest land mammal on the planet!"

3."I can be red or grey, I love climbing trees and I am great at storing nuts"

Picasso

The piece of work I am most proud of is:

What did you do well?

For the next project I will improve on:
This could be your attitude or a specific technique you will improve

Can you remember the colour wheel?
Fill in the starter sheet by either colouring in or write the correct colours.
Once you have done it pass it to your neighbour to get them to mark it.
If it isn't correct help each other to correct it then tick it off!
