What is CI?
CI is India's first website focused exclusively on conservation action
Launched in Jan 2012
Over 550,000 unique users, 10,000+ regd. users, audience exclusively Indian
Interested and concerned citizens don't know they can get involved in conservation
Enable conservation action
Enhance stakeholders in conservation
Conservation learnings & best practices are:
Not in the public domain
They are in the scientific domain or inside people's brains!
Current conservation efforts are primarily inward focused
Costly "reinventing the wheel"
Leaves out stakeholder groups-
Govt. / Forest dept.
Nature lovers, tourists, photographers, birdwatchers
Seamless networking between conservationists
Search & reapply instead of reinventing the wheel
Branding- a powerful identity to lead a cause!
Conservation case studies & best practices, research & role of science, institutional & legal frameworks, wildlife law & policy, experts, current issues, active NGO directory
Identify & report violations, how to be a responsible wildlife tourist, be a watchdog, create a campaign, make a film, file a petition, go to court, download & file an RTI, form a conservation group
don't know what I need to know
- don't know what I need to do
CI is inclusive!
Reaches out and addresses all stakeholder groups
We believe everybody can do something with the right stimuli
Encourages usage and contributions from everyone
