Transcript of Delaware Water Gap Abiotic Factors

Abiotic Factors of the Delaware Water Gap Main Abiotic Factors of Delaware Water Gap 1. Weather/Temperature
2.
Precipitation
3.
Mountain Elevation ~Weather/Temperature~ The weather/temperature affects the Delaware Water Gap because of the temperature of the water. With lower temperatures in the water there are less fish and other aqautic animals. ~Precipitation~ Precipitation effects the Delaware Water Gap because of the level of water. The more water in the river the more flooding that will happen. When the river floods the fish might be relocated. ~Mountain Elevation~ Elevations on the Delaware Water Gap are between 150-340 Feet. The Mountains could have a land slide and kill a population of fish. The populations affected by weather. Black bears are affected by weather because they hibernate in the winter. Fish are affected by weather because when the temperature is lower the fish population gets lower. Deer are affected by weather because they also hibernate in the winter. Misquitos affected by the weather because they live in the heat The populations affected by percipitation. Striped bass, Small Mouth bass, and Large Mouth bass are affected by flooding because there could be bad chemicals in the water. American Shad and all fish can be killed by run off. The population affected by Mountain Elevations Birds would be affected by mountain elevation because there is less air the farther you go up. Animals like racoons or squirrels are affected by mountain elevation because there could be a rock slide and it can destroy their habitats Weather/Temperature affect the ecosystem.
It can affect the ecosystem by flooding with the affect from rain & global warming causes the temperature to rise. Percipitation can affect the ecosystem by flooding (increase) or a drought from a decrease of water. Mountain Elevation can affect the ecosystem by being used for shelter if there is major flooding.
