Commensalism
Examples!
commensalism is a symbiotic relationship in which one species benefits and the other is neither harmed or helped
Barnacle on a Whale:
the barnacle attaches to the
whale to help it swim and eat,
but the whale doesn't notice
it's there
Burr on a Deer:
the burr attaches itself to
the deer and the deer carries
it around and then it drops
off so the seed gets planted
a symbiotic relationship
where both species benefit
Examples!
(not an example! why?)monkeys grooming, one gets cleaned and the other gets a meal.
parasitism
a symbiotic relationship
where one benefits and
other is harmed
Examples!
a flea on a dog, the flea
gets a meal and the dog
gets itchy and could get an infection.
tick on a deer, the tick
gets fed, and the deer
loses blood
