Uses of the Taro
Food dishes in many countries are made using the Taro Plant. The Taro Plant can be cooked with prawns, meats, and cuisines.
Biomes
Taro Plants mainly grow in paddy fields where water is abundunt. Wet Tropical climates work well for the Taro Plant.
Specific Needs
The Taro Plant needs a wet, tropical climate to grow in.
Plant Adaptations
The large leaves of the plant enable it to absorb more of the very low levels of light in the tropical climate
What Tropisms Are Used?
Hydrotropism is used with the Taro Plant, because the roots grow underwater to absorb nutrients for the plant.
Physical Features
There are 3 major physical features of the Taro Plant.
- Large Leaves
- Corm
-Top
What Damages It?
The Taro Plant can easily be damaged from drought. Since the plant lives in a tropical climate, and the roots absorb water drought can cause the plant to not grow.
Native Locations
Two of the native locations for the Taro Plant are, Southern India and Southeast Asia. (Highlighted)
Root System & Shoot Systen Interaction
Both systems interact to perform growth, photosynthesis, and reproduction. Growth is helped with the auxin hormone.
Reproduction
The Taro Plant reproduces when the corm of the plant breaks away and sprouts a leaf which will continue to make more and more
