Transcript of How to improve your speaking?

SPEAK, SPEAK and SPEAK
Be confident and speak as often as possible to as many people as you possibly can;

Do not be shy to make mistakes;

Try NOT to translate into and from Portuguese because this takes too much time and will make you more hesitant;

Speaking is a skill like learning a musical instrument or new sport – the only way you can get good is to actually do it!

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SPEAKING?
USE TECHNOLOGY
Use apps like duolingo, SpeakingPal English Tutor, Conversation English, Supiki English Conversation Speaking Practice app, etc.

Record yourself speaking and listen back to see how your English sounds to other people;

Listen to songs, watch videos, movies and the news to listen to the pronunciation of words. Try to repeat what you listened to practice the correct pronunciation and fluency.
READ OUT LOUD
Read the newspaper or a magazine out to yourself. You could even find a script for your favorite TV show and act it out!
TALK TO NATIVE SPEAKERS
Talk to native English speakers, they can help you to improve your speaking and pronunciation!

There are some useful websites you can use:

TALK TO YOURSELF AND THINK IN ENGLISH
Practice talking to yourself! Is it crazy? No! It's useful!

Try to talk to yourself about your routine when you are dressing up to go to work/school, for example, think about the things you are going to do and talk.

When you come back from work/school, talk about your day, the things you did or didn't do.

DO INTERESTING ACTIVITIES IN ENGLISH
Participate in online forums discussions about a topic you like, take a cooking course in English or join a book club! Anything you enjoy doing, make sure you do it and communicate it in English.
Speaking about something you enjoy is very positive.
LET'S PRACTICE SPEAKING!
Talk about your plans, your next vacation
your next weekend, etc.

What are you doing? What are you feeling? What do you see, taste, smell, hear? What are you touching? What are you thinking?

Think about the future and the past, too. What are you going to do next? What have you just done?
You need to think in English consistently to truly get better. The more you think in English, the faster it'll come out! Think in English as much as possible in your routine.
LEARN SENTENCES
Instead of learning single words, try to learn sentences. If you do so, you will be able to use the words correctly in a different sentence when you speak.
SPEAK ABOUT THINGS THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU

If you imagine an unreal situation to talk about it doesn't work, because our memory keeps what makes sense to us!

Do you remember what you ate last Monday? No, because it was irrelevant. The same happens in
English learning, our brain doesn't keep the irrelevant information.
EXPANDING YOUR SPEAKING

Talk about:

yourself
someone else
things near you, your family members, your house
your job
your city
your region
your country
your continent
the world!
