Introduction
Players
There are 40 or 25 men on each team depending on the time of year. 5 are starting pitchers, 6 are relief pitchers, 9 are position players and the rest are subs. The starting players in baseball are:
the pitcher (1), the catcher (2), the 1st baseman (3), the 2nd baseman (4) the 3rd baseman (5) the shortstop (who plays between 2nd base and the 3rd baseman) (6), the left fielder (7), the center fielder (8) and the right fielder (9)
. Also, in the American League, there's a designated hitter (DH) that only bats.
The Game
.
The offence tries to hit a ball that is thrown by the pitcher with a wooden bat that looks like this. If the offence hits the ball, the defense tries to throw the offense player out at first or catch the ball in the air. If the defense does so, the offensive player is out. If the defense does not the offensive player is safe.
There are more complicated situations such as double plays, tag outs, and steals. Double plays happen when the gets outs at two bases in the same at bat. A tag out is when a defensive player “tags” a runner with the ball when the offensive is off the base and there is not a base runner behind the guy getting tagged. If there is a person behind the runner the defender doesn’t have to tag him. That is called a force out. A steal is when a runner runs to 2nd as the pitcher is pitching.
Right before each game the manager of each team fills out a line-up card showing the batting order and the defensive positions.
The home team’s (the team whose field the game is played on) dugout lies behind first base. The visiting team’s dugout lies behind third base. The visiting team bats first. Once both teams bat, the first of nine innings is over. The way teams score is one player that has gone around all the bases crosses home plate the team scores a run

The Game 2
Right before each game the manager of each team fills out a line-up card showing the batting order and the defensive positions.
The home team’s (the team whose field the game is played on) dugout lies behind first base. The visiting team’s dugout lies behind third base. The visiting team bats first. Once both teams bat, the first of nine innings is over. The way teams score is one player that has gone around all the bases crosses home plate the team scores a run. When a team hits the ball the hit is classified by what base the runner reaches. There are 4 different kinds of hits: a single (reached 1st base), a double (reached 2nd base), a triple (reached 3rd base) and a home run (a ball hit over the fence in the outfield* and into the stands or ran all the way around the bases before getting tagged). If players are on base and a player hits a home run the number of players on base get added to the run from the home run. The types of home runs are: solo home run, a two run home run, a three run home run and a grand slam. A grand slam is no different than any other home run other than the bases are loaded* and are no harder to hit than any other home run, as long as the bases are loadedThe way teams score is one player that has gone around all the bases crosses home plate the team scores a run. There are 4 different kinds of hits: a single (reached 1st base), a double (reached 2nd base), a triple (reached 3rd base) and a home run (a ball hit over the fence in the outfield* and into the stands). If players are on base and a player hits a home run the number of players on base get added to the run from the home run. At the end of nine innings the team with the most runs wins. If the game is tied at the end of nine innings, the game goes into extra innings. The game has no time limit.

The outfield is behind the infield. In my photo the outfield is green and in a baseball stadium the outfield is always green because it is grass though in some stadiums the team colors the grass to look like their logo. The brown on my photo is, on a stadium, is dirt

*By “the bases are loaded” I mean that there is a player on 1st, 2nd and 3rd base

The Difference Between the American and National League
The difference between the American League (AL) and the National League (NL) is that in the NL the pitchers bat and in the AL the pitchers do not bat. The pitcher is replaced by a designated hitter (DH). In inter league ( when an AL team and NL team play each other. If the NL team at home than the pitcher bats. If the AL team is at home than there is a DH.

Today I'm going to teach you about the game of baseball. It's a fairly simple game, once you the rules and how to play. So what are we waiting for! Let's begin!
Umpires
There are 4 umpires in each game the first base, second base, third base and home plate umpire. The home plate umpire has the hardest job, calling the strikes and the balls. The home plate umpire also determent who are safe at home plate. The first base umpire calls fair and foul balls and who is safe at first. The third base umpire does the same. The second base umpire has the simplest job, calling who is safe at second base. If a player feels like the call is wrong the player and or the manager can question the umpire about the call. Players can get ejected (thrown out) of a game for questioning too fiercely. Every umpire has this privilege
There are 10 teams in the play-offs. There are 4 wild card teams (2 per league). There are also 6 divisional winners (3 per league). The 2 wild card teams play 1 game. The winner of that game plays the divisional winner with the best record in a 5 game series. The other 2 teams play each other also in a 5 game series. The winners of those the games play each other in another 5 game series. That happens in both leagues. The winners of the last series in both leagues face of in the World Series which is a 7 game series. The league that won in the All Star Game gets 4 games at their stadium. The other team from other league gets 3 home games.
Play-offs (Postseason)

The 26th President William H. Taft invented the 7th inning stretch
The Yankees have won the most World Series’ with 25
Baseball sometimes is called the national pastime
Nobody knows who invented baseball
The reason the visiting dugout is behind third base is because most games are in the afternoon and the visiting dugout would be facing the sun, the Brooklyn Dodgers were the only exception
If you’re facing the outfield, lefties bat on the right side of the plate and righties bat on the left side
The Royals have not made the postseason in 29 years (since 1985)
