Lets Get Acquainted
Maya Everett
Harriet Josephine Terry was one of the prestigious founders initiated as a Sophomore. Remembered fondly for her captivating smile, intellect, and congeniality; Terry was a sure asset to the organization.

Like Terry, many of my peers speak fondly of the positive energy and personality I contribute to every environment as a leader on Howard's campus in Sophomore standing.

Just as Terry, after my tenure is complete at Howard University, I will go on to contribute to my home of Alabama.

What Happens When A Country Girl
Takes Over Howard?
Why I want to be a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated
A Letter to the Reader
Who would've known a country girl from the dirt roads of Alabama would attend Howard University, making impactul contributions to her campus and world. A Sophomore, Broadcast Journalism Major from Leeds, AL, Maya Everett's rhetoric is the success story of a socio-economic anomaly continuously looking to learn more and be better.

Looking back 20 years ago when Everett was born to 16- year old mother Tarrika Everett, no one could have fathomed that she would some day attend one of the most prestigious HBCUs in the nation. Enduring many hardships such as living in extreme poverty, witnessing drug abuse, witnessing domestic violence, and living in a one- parent home; Everett has seemingly overcome all of life's obstacles.

My Favorite Quote
"My mother always taught me to take chances and that society wouldn't always agree. But she encouraged me to become comfortable living outside of the box because once your story is finished, they'll have no choice but to accept it."
