He was born in Washington D.C
He was born April 29, 1899
His birth name is Edward Kennedy Ellington
He went to Armstrong High school
He started playing the piano when he was only 7 years old
His mother was a baptist and his father was a methodist.
Duke Ellington is considered one of the greatest jazz composers of all time
Duke Ellington was a Big Band Orchestra leader and composer. He also played the piano. Some famous songs that he made were " Take the A Train " and I Don't Mean a Thing.
