Hell: As Destruction
Transcript of Hell: As Destruction
The Way out
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
"I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
"For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things."
"These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power."
2 Thessalonians 1:9
"...with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved."
2 Thessalonians 2:10
“It would seem strange, therefore, if people who are said to suffer destruction are in fact not destroyed; …it is difficult to imagine a perpetually inconclusive process of perishing.”
“These key words for ‘destroy’ and ‘destruction’ can also refer to land that has lost its fruitfulness; to ointment that is poured out wastefully and to no apparent purpose; to wineskins that can no longer function because they have holes in them; to a coin that is useless because it is lost…. In none of these cases do the objects cease to exist; they cease to be useful or to exist in their original, intended state.”
"Hell was made for the devil and his angels, it was not first intended for man."
"For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
1 Corinthians 1:18
"For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing."
2 Corinthians 2:15
in the air...
"...result of an unguided, unplanned process of random variation and natural selection."
"But then with me the horrid doubt always arises, whether the convictions of a man’s mind, which has been developed from the mind of the lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would anyone trust in the convictions of a monkey’s mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?"
"Up to the age of thirty or beyond it, poetry of many kinds…gave me great pleasure, and even as a schoolboy I took intense delight in Shakespeare…. Formerly pictures gave me considerable, and music very great, delight. But now for many years I cannot endure to read a line of poetry: I have tried to read Shakespeare, and found it so intolerably dull that it nauseated me. I have also almost lost any taste for pictures or music…. I retain some taste for fine scenery, but it does not cause me the exquisite delight which it formerly did…. My mind seems to have become a kind of machine for grinding general laws out of large collections of facts…. The loss of these tastes is a loss of happiness, and may possibly be injurious to the intellect, and more probably to the moral character, by enfeebling the emotional part of our nature."
“...the central and radical lie in the whole web of falsehood that now governs our lives.”
in the soul...
“Nearby, the real, living female butterfly opens and closes her wings in vain.”
"While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, 'Take, eat; this is My body.'
"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father."
"...all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day."
2 Corinthians 4:15-16
