Bill is introduced Refered to Committee. Committee reviews bill Committee reports bill to House It is read a first time, then amended, then read a second time It is read a third time then the members of the House debate it Then a Vote is taken If it passes, the Bill goes to the second chamber where the process is repeated. with the president or speaker Then the Committee and action by the second chamber If the bill is passed, the president can veto or sign the bill into law Legislation may override veto with a 2/3 vote. by a concerned citizen or senator. appropriate committee Don't want the Enviormental committee reviewing a gun control bill When the bill is finally made into a law, it starts on January 1st.
