Transcript of Art Critique: An Evaluation on Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Last

At the Santa Maria delle Grazie, Mila, Italy.
A successful attempt at creating a new style of painting?
Clearly not as the painting had already immediately began to crumble beore it was even finished.
"The Last Supper"
By: Leonardo Da Vinci
Colors of the clothes are vivid, surroundings are dull/dark, outside the windows are bright and sunny/beautiful day; almost looks like storm clouds are starting to roll in=all is not as perfect as it seems. Jesus is definitely the emphasis of the painting.
Leonardo Da Vinci was a painter. He has over 23 famous works. His two most popular works are the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper".
Who is Leonardo Da Vinci?
Because he was paid to do so by Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan.
Why did Leonardo Da Vinci Paint "The Last Supper" at the Santa Maria delle Grazie?
The painting was a new style of painting similar to Fresco, although not actually considered a Fresco because fresco is painted on wet plaster. (But Leonardo chose to do this painting on a dry wall and then sealed it with a double layer of dried plaster.)
What kind of Painting is "The Last Supper" and how long did it take to complete?
People in the painting from left to right Bartholomew, James, Andrew, Judas Iscariot, Peter, John (though many believe that this is Mary Magdalene), Jesus, Thomas, James the Greater, Philip, Matthew, Jude Thaddeus, and Simon the Zealot.
They are eating the last supper with Jesus before he was crucified, the red wine=the red blood, the bread=his physical body, Judas tipping over the salt=betraying his master.
Art Critique: An Evaluation on Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Last Supper"
Where is "The Last supper" located?
Leonardo Da Vinci took 4 years to complete this painting from start to finish; between the ages of 42 and 46.
Focal point? Some say the face of Jesus Christ himself while others say the point above Jesus' head; still some think that it's the "V" that is created by the positions of Mary and Jesus' body.
This is a restored version of the painting.
Painting is 460 cm × 880 cm (181 in × 346 in)
Sunny window around Jesus' head almost seems like it is crowning him.
Brush srokes seem a bit messy though the figures are very realistic.
If you notice the other pictures on this wall then you will notice that they are all of women. Why then would it be so difficult to imagine that it is Mary Magadalene sitting beside Jesus in "The Last Supper".
