The 3 most important skills you would need for a career in Public Relations...
Time management- Being able to recognize deadlines and high and low priority tasks.
Organization- Keeping yourself and your work organized can help you climb toward more responsibilities.
Computer skills- You'll be doing a lot of email work, sending press relations, email alerts, etc. Knowin how to navigate Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook is very important.
A bachelor's degree is generally required to get into the Public Relations field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are several academic majors you will need for an entry-level position in public relations. Some include marketing, public relations, journalism, and communications.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report Public Relations employment growth of 23% between 2010 and 2020. During that time, an addition 58,200 jobs will need to be filled. Because of its promising outlook, the public relations specialists has claimed the 51 spot in the 2013 list of best jobs.
