MUSIC IN THE 1900'S-2013
The invention of the radio traces back to the late 1800's by Guglielmo Marconi. It began as a wireless telegraphy. It all started with the discovery of radio waves. Which are electromagnetic waves that have the capacity to transmit music, speech, pictures and other data invisibly through the air.
Television had a big impact on the music industry. This is because in 1984 September 1'st Much Music started playing music videos and songs for the people watching at home. They sometimes would also use songs for background music in commercials. Much Music is still one of the most popular teenager's show to this day.
In the 1900's-1920's popular kinds of music were Jazz and Ragtime. Some popular Ragtime artist were Scott Joplin, Blind Blake, Eubie Blake, Jelly Roll Morton, Max Morath and more. Some popular Jazz artist were Sun Ra, Eral Hines, Joe Venuti, Duke Ellington, Joe "King" Oliver and more. There were also wars like the Venezuala crisis of 1902-1903 and World War One starting in July 28, 1914- November 11, 1919.
In the 1920'-1940's popular kinds of music were Jazz, The Blues and Swing. Some popular artist who played the Blues were Robert Johnson, Bessei Smith, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Otis Rush and more. Popular Swing artist were Benny Goodman, Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, Coleman Hawkins, Nat King Cole and more. Also World War 2 was at its biegining in September 1, 1939- September 2, 1945.
In the 1950's popular kinds of music were R&B, Rock and Roll and Country Music. Popular artist who played R&B were Bob Williams, Chuck Berry, Louis Jordan, Brook Benton and many more. Popular rock and Roll artist were Elvis Presley, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson and more. Popular in Country was Jimmy Rodgers, Vernon Dalhart, Roy Acuff, Red Foley, Jonny Cash and more.
In the 1960's popular kinds of music were Rock and Roll. The popular artist were The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix and more. Hippies and drugs were also becoming more popular.
In the 1970's popular kinds of music were Disco and Pop. Popular Disco artist were Donna Summers, Bee Gees, Dianna Ross, Jackson 5, Gloria Gaynor and more. Popular Pop artist were Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Prince, Paul Simon, Carole King and more.
In the 1980's popular kinds of music were Pop and Rock. Popular Pop artist are Queen, Blondie, Air Supply, Pat Benatar, John Lennon and more. Popular Rock artist were U2, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Oaisis, Green day and more. another mentionable artist is Bob Marley with his Reggae Genre
In the 1990's popular kinds of music were Pop and Hip Hop. Popular Pop artist are Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, The Spice Girls, Micheal Jackson and more. Popular Hip Hop artist were DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Snoop Dog, Eminem, Jay-Z and more.
In the 2000's popular types of music are Pop, Rap and Rock. Popular Pop artist are Justin Bieber, Madoona, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and more. Popular Rap artist are Wiz Kalifa, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Mac Miller and more. Popular Rock artist are Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. Also the first Ipod came out in September 14, 2007 which was a big help to the music industry because instead of buying the whole album you could buy one or more for less.
Technology is still improving day by day and step by step. Music also is still improving. So what do you think will come next?
