Aardvarks are Cool!
Transcript of Aardvarks are Cool!
a pet! FYI: Aardvarks AARDVARKS
ARE COOL!! What is an Aardvark? The aardvark is a medium-sized,
burrowing, nocturnal mammal
native to Africa. The name comes from earlier Afrikaans, and means "earth pig" or "ground pig" (aarde earth/ground, varken pig), because of its burrowing habits (similar origin to the name groundhog). The aardvark is not closely related to the pig; rather, it is the sole representative of the obscure mammalian order Tubulidentata. Genetically speaking, the aardvark is a living fossil! The aardvark's main predators are
lions, leopards, & pythons. The main character of Arthur, an
animated television series for children,
shown in more than 180 countries,
is an aardvark One of the most distinctive characteristics of the Tubulidentata is their teeth. Each tooth has a cluster of thin, upright, parallel tubes . The teeth have no enamel coating and are worn away and regrow continuously. The aardvark is born with incisors and canines at the front of the jaw, which fall out and are not replaced. Adult aardvarks have only cheek teeth at the back of the jaw. Why Aardvarks? Let me TELL you! Another famous Aardvark
was from the BC comics. The
University of California -Irving
adopted the aardvark as their mascot! I LOVE AARDVARKS! FAMOUS AARDVARKS? Ant and Aardvark ran on
Saturday AMs during
Pink Panther cartoons.
The aardvark never got the ant!
