Louis Vuitton How it all started Vuitton's Journey -When he was only 13 years old, Louis left his home to go to Paris.

-He walked on foot 292 miles and it took him 2 years to finally make it to Paris.

-Vuitton arrived in Paris in 1837.

-He soon became an apprentice at a successful box-making and packing workshop.

-Within a few years, he gained a reputation for his great work. Who is Louis Vuitton? -Born on August 4, 1821 in Anchay, France

-Xavier Vuitton, Louis' father, was a farmer while his mother Coronne Gaillard was a miller.

-His mother died when he was 10 years old. Ranking up in Class -In 1853, Vuitton's fortune rose again.

-He was appointed the personal box-maker and packer of the Empress of France

-The position opened the doors to a new class of elite and royal clientele. Louis Vuitton By: Hussein Ahmed Louis All Grown Up -In 1854, Vuitton married 17-year-old Clemence-Emilie Parriaux. -Later, he opened his own box-making and packing workshop in Paris and created his own trunks. What Goes Up Must Come Down -In 1867 Vuitton was awarded a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle. -During the Franco-Prussian War in 1870-1871, Vuitton's workshop was looted and destroyed. -Right after the war was over he set up a new workshop in an aristocratic area of central Paris. Fame Rising -In 1889, Vuitton won a gold medal and the grand prize at the Exposition Universelle. Louis Vuitton's Death -Vuitton died at the age of 72 on February 27, 1892. -He left control of the company to his son, Georges Vuitton. Style At Its Finest -The popularity of his work increased. -The famous LV monogram canvas was created by George. -The Louis Vuitton building was known as the largest travel-goods store in the world.
