Boko Haram TIMELINE
Genocide Watch in Nigeria
This is an organization that watches large groups of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation, who deliberately kill another large group of people based on their nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, etc. One of the watched groups in Nigeria is Boko Haram.
What is Boko Haram?
Boko Haram is a Genocidal criminal movement led by an Islamist extremist, Abubakar Shekau. He has vowed to destroy every Christian school in Nigeria, and to carry out terrorist attacks on Nigerian government police and government officials. Boko Haram kidnapped over 200 girls from a Christian school in April, 2014 and despite the Nigerian governments efforts, none have been found. In 2014, Boko Haram killed an estimated 2,000 people in its Jihad to expand its self-declared Islamic Caliphate in northern Nigeria with a heavy muslim population. Many men who refuse to join the organization are being attacked and murderedm, the women get turned into sex slaves and fighters, then sometimes killing those who refuse to comply. All these terrible terrorist acts the are commiting is what put them on the Genocide Watch list.
8 STEPS OF GENOCIDE
Why Boko Haram
~The founder of the group, Mohammad Yusuf, preaches Islamic fundamentalism.

~Dissatisfaction with Western influence led to an emergence of Islamist fundamentalists among people of the Northeastern region of Nigeria.

~Yusuf founded Boko Haram because he saw an opportunity to exploit public outrage at government corruption by linking it to Western influence in governance.
