Epiglottitis is inflammation of the tissue that covers
the trachea. This is caused by bacteria from food, air or just allergies . It starts with high fever and sore throat.
Epiglottitis occours unpredictably. Epiglottitis effects the respiratory systm because the epiglottis effects the flap that helps you breath. Epiglottitis may also cause death Airway Treatments Cures and Mortality Rate If you have epiglottitis, you need to teated quickly.
Hospital stay is needed. The docters will give you
antibiotics to treat the infection. Fluids will be given through
the veins and in to the blood. You will also need to get a neck
x-ray to see if there is any problems with your throat. If you
don't get treated quickly, bad things can happen. Like death,
fainting or convultion. Interesting Facts Many people can die from epiglottitis.
Like my mom on December 13 2007.
It will be hard to:
breath, sleep, and you will be puke often.
