Micheal Phelps an Amazing American

Phelps gave his place to his friend Ian Crocker in the 4x100 medley race in the Athens 2004 Olympics.

Phelps gave his one-million dollars, that he earned from speedo, to start the Michael Phelps Foundation.

Phelps helped create a program called Swim with the Stars to get kids to enjoy and partake in swimming.


Phelps hated Losing very much. One of the only things that kept him going was how much he wanted to win.
Set a national record for his age group in the 100-meter butterfly. He didn't stop there!
Was one one the fastest swimmers in the world at age 14.

Michael qualified for the Olympic Team even though people thought he was too young to make the team.

At age 15 he was the youngest swimmer to ever hold a world record.

Broke 5 world records in 2003 World Championships in Spain


Broke 7 world records in 41 days
FINALLY HIS GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT


He won 8 gold medals being the
only one to do that EVER.

Now some of his greatest achievements

He would use swimming as an escape, a refuge, someplace where he could forget about the teasing students and his divorced parents

Wanted just one gold medal thats what he wanted since 1992 when he realized he could swim

He wanted just one gold medal at the Olympics.
He listens to rap music while he practiced to help him focus with his ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

He was told it was impossible for him to meet Mark Spitz’s record of 7 medals but he didn't listen and got 8 in one Olympic Game.

He eats 12,000 calories a day because he must get all of his energy back, He swims at least 50 miles each week.

Breakfast: His breakfast contained: three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, and mayonnaise. Two cups of coffee. One five-egg omelet. One bowl of grits. Three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar. Three chocolate chip pancakes.
Lunch
One pound of enriched pasta. Two ham and cheese sandwiches with mayo on white bread. Energy drinks packing 1,000 calories.
Dinner
One pound of pasta. An entire pizza. More energy drinks.
