TASK ONE: PERSONAL PREFERENCE WHAT ARE "Independent Speaking Tasks"?
The Independent Speaking Tasks are the first two tasks in the speaking section of TOEFL.
You are given only the questions for these tasks.
You should use your own personal knowledge and experience to answer these questions.
You will be given 15 seconds to prepare your answer and 45 seconds to speak.

Quickly summarize the question topic.
Be decisive...you need to choose one plan and go with it.
Go with your instinct. Organize your ideas into a logical order. Topic: What do I think?
Reason #1: Why do I think that way?
Detailed information for Reason #1
Reason #2: Another reason I think that way.
Detailed information for Reason #2 Speak... Confidently: Try to sound confident...speak slowly with at strong, clear voice.
Correctly: Try not to make any grammatical errors.
Clearly: Try to pronounce the words carefully and clearly.

If possible, practice with a partner.
Watch the clock! Time your practice!
Record your practice and listen again.
Use a transcriber if you can.
LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES! CONFIDENCE
PREPARATION! What is your favorite way of getting around? Describe it and explain why it is your favorite means of transportation. Practice Question #1: Practice Question #2 Talk about an event from the past that you would like to relive. Describe the original event and say why you would like to relive it. INDEPENDENT SPEAKING TASKS
TASK TWO: PAIRED CHOICE PAIRED CHOICE TASK SUMMARY The questions in the "Paired Choice" Section give you two options.
You can choose either one. There is no correct choice.
Whichever option you choose, you must defend your choice carefully.
As in the "Personal Preference" task, you must use reasons and details to support your decision. A B OR ? IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER: Listen carefully to the question and summarize the choices.
Choose one quickly and don't change your mind.
Speak clearly and slowly.
Remember that there is no right or wrong answer.
Don't forget that you have 45 seconds. Sample Question #1: Some people think that cities should spend a lot of money on parks and museums. Others think that cities should spend that money on services for poor citizens. Which opinion do you agree with and why?
