SEC Program Ecosource
Transcript of SEC Program Ecosource
Ecosource was founded in 1979 by Mayor Hazel McCallion
As the Mississauga Clean City Committee, we worked to reduce litter and helped roll out the first ever blue box campaign in our City!
Our popular school waste reduction workshops began, sharing environmental messages with students across the City.
New issues emerged: composting & stewardship
become areas of focus.
Youth Leaders came together and the Peel Environmental Youth Alliance (PEYA) was formed.
The first community garden was launched at Mississauga Valley Park
Food systems and youth engagement in food choices is highlighted through the YLF programming. Let the cooking competitions begin!
Community gardens fill a much needed gap and 4 new gardens open across the City, including habitat and pollinator spaces in support of ecosystem health.
The MSURA project begins to better meet the needs of community food banks and address issues of food security.
Teacher education begins in partnership with York University, focusing on whole school approaches to sustainable development.
The City's Living Green Master Plan, and then Credit River Parks Strategy are created, setting goals in our community for a sustainable future, linking strongly with the work underway...
