Transcript of Coolcabinet [Shared]

In the 60's our home had a 2 way cabinet next to the outside kitchen door
The postman, milkman, bakers, butchers and groceries were supplying daily at your doorstep
Deliveries were placed in the cabinet from the outside and we could pick the deliveries out of the cabinet from the inside
No need to stay home for deliveries
The shopping list for next delivery was left in the cabinet
Return goods were left in the cabinet (like returnable bottles)

Times have changed, we all got out to go shopping in malls and supermarkets and home delivery died
With internet shopping home delivery revived
But many homes have changed, double income's make people more mobile and 'out-of-home'
Convenience means not dragging around with shopping bags
Comfort means
home delivery
The Down Side
For the delivery man/ postman/ milkman etc the client needs to open the door, but he/she is not at home deliveries fail
Packages are (unwanted?) delivered to neighbours
Some facts for NL market
Traffic congestion is an important negative factor during 'daytime' 7-20 hr for deliveries
The cost of home delivery is a significant element in total cost for online retailers
Return deliveries are very common in online business models
For most return delivery packages must be dropped at central depots when you're not at home
Our solution
Coolcabinet
The modern version of the 2/way/2 door cabinet next to the kitchen door.
What's different to existing solutions
Pakketautomaat (Postnl), Mypup, Amazon Locker are all succesful solutions for the 'not at home' problem
?
Deliveries fail time over time and goods are returned
Some deliveries need to be 'delivered discretely'
Some deliveries need to stay cool/ chilled
In NL 1/3 of the population live in apartment buildings
In Randstad 1/2 of population live in apartment buildings

A single or multiple cabinet at an easily accessible place at your doorstep/ in the central entrance of your appartment building
Easy acces for deliveryman and for you as occupant of the house/building
Electronic lock for the cabinet to be openened with barcode or entrance code
Backoffice sytem that integrates in the tracking /tracing of the parcel delivery companies
Occupant receives text/sms when goods have arrived in your cabinet
Refrigerator capabilities for the Coolcabinet so fresh produce can be delivered into cabinet and stay fresh
Return deliveries can be picked up by parcel delivery companies without the need to be home
However, these are all on central locations (trainstations, company adresses)- provide no cooling facilities- are not at your doorstep
So still significant additional transportation for larger items, additional need for getting 'out-of-home' to get your delivered packages
