Microbe that causes it?
highly contagious,
spread among people by direct contact through fluids from the nose and mouth
How it spreads
fatigue
Symptoms
incubation is 7-10 days with a range of 4-21 days.
there are 3 stages
catharral (runny nose)- 1-2 weeks, only stage where the disease can be stopped with antibiotics
paroxysmal- 1-10 weeks, "attacks" more frequent at night
How long does it last
Can it be treated
Medicine
Is it an epidemic
cough
running nose
sneezing
fever
episodes of no breathing
vomiting
waring eyes
turning blue while coughing
early treatment is very important
Can be treated with antibiotics
erythromycin


common in the U.S., with peaks every 3- 5 years and frequent outbreaks
