Transcript of Student Organization

2015-16 Board will work on the annual report*, submit information on outside support, and federal, state, local government visitors
2016-17 Board will work on a detailed budget proposal, submit board information, designate board members who will serve as point persons for the website
OSA will share budget proposals with the student reps and solicit feedback
Budget letters will be sent out in August
Things to keep in mind...
Funding levels for each group have not varied and we do not anticipate large variance in budget allocations from YLS for any group
Think about this process as a way to get a head start on planning
If you are planning on having an event over the summer, please keep in mind that expenses will come out of your 2016-17 allocation. For expenditures to charge against any remaining 2015-16 allocation, it will need to be processed before the end of the fiscal year (June 30).
Please note that CDO hosts a number of career related programs and is available to co-sponsor with student orgs. Please contact CDO at the outset to minimize redundant programming and conflicts and to maximize collaboration.

Budget letters are typically sent at the end of August to the student group email account, the leader(s), and budget officer for the group.

Again, when planning for events over the summer, use your 2015-16 YLS allocation as a guide to how much you will have in 2016-17. If you are a new group without a 2015-16 budget figure to refer to, please contact me and I will be happy to work with you.
Enjoy your summer

Groups may fund summer events either out of their 2016-17 Law School allocation or their discretionary funds (if available). When thinking about using your 2016-17 Law School allocation, use your 2015-16 YLS allocation as a guide to how much you will have in 2016-17. If you are a new group without a 2015-16 budget figure to refer to, please contact me and I will be happy to work with you.

Please note it is important to coordinate scheduling of summer events with existing YLS Alumni Affairs events as well as Yale Summer Events programming. Please be in touch with Dean Cosgrove and Sachi Rodgers to coordinate timing and check for potential conflicts.
* Please consult Student Activities Resources site and forthcoming Prezi on event planning for information on arranging for payment of event expenses
Details do not need to be finalized prior to this deadline but it would be helpful to have a general sense of timing and location (city is fine) to help facilitate planning for your event.
* Annual report will need to include a full list of programs executed in 2015-16, including details on speakers.
