The reason why was due to the fact that people in the city are constantly overwhelmed with people and traffic, people in rural areas have more time for themselves.

College Student Volunteer Rate: 19-30 year old; 8.6%
People can volunteer to help in the MLK Day which is to honor Dr. King legacy by engaging in volunteer work and community service.

Teenage volunteer rate - Adolescents; 12.6%
Generation X volunteer rate - The generation born after that of the baby boomers (roughly from the early 1960s to mid 1970s). 45-54 year olds; 16.7%

We think it is lower because New York is a big city and people are constantly busy with their jobs and don't have time to volunteer.
