Lessons Learned Helen Ohh Akeelah and the Bee "Persistence" "Believing in your Family" "Believing in Yourself" continuity: the property of a continuous and connected period of time Believing in your family means to not give up on your family and always care for them and lean on them for support. Film Connection In the film, Akeela showed persistence by not giving up on the spelling bee even though she might not have won because of her obstacles such as Dylan and his strict Father. Personal Connection Film Connection Film Connection To me, believing in yourself means to never give up on a task or challenge you come upon. One time I believed in myself was when I dived in the pool for the first time when i was little. It is the decisions you make, when you have no time to make them, that define who you are"Believing in yourself is one of the first steps to success. If you don't have confidence in yourself, it will be difficult to succeed in anything. One way I show persistence is by always doing my homework right when I get home. In the film, Akeelah showed believing in her family and her "extended family" by asking them for help in the spelling bee. Personal Connection In the movie, Akeelah showed she believed in herself because she didnt give up on the spelling bee even through all the obstacles she had to face like, her mother not believing in her. Personal Connection Definition: Define: One personal connection i have is that I always ask for advice from my dad. Definition

Transcript: Important lessons I have learned. By: Rachel Whitney Coming Of Age "If it is to be, it's up to me." Defining Style From one of the short stories we read I learnded that you treat people the way you want to be treated. There is a meaning and a moral to every short story. Coming Of Age Amidst Controversy For coming of age i learned that even if there is an obsiticle in the way of your goal, you have to jump over it. I learned that you have to move along, even when things get hard, because in the end it will be in your benifit. Drama What i learned from Romeo and Juliet is that when you jump in to love to fast that it won't work out its like eating a desert and the really good taste is there but then it just goes away when your done eating it. And that sometimes fighting isnt really worth it because of the consequences. Freshman Year As A Whole For Freshman year i think my lesson would be to not put things back and just do what your suposed to when you have to. For my freshman year i learned that you just need to do what is required or you ill not succeed in school. My Most Important Lessons Of The Year By: Rachel Whitney -Dad-

Transcript: Lessons I've Learned this is another mistake i made of getting the address and return address mixed up. I sent it and forgot about it, and then it got sent back to my house and my mom had to redo it. this is me makin the mistake of standing ontop of a ladder while wearing no shoes. Where i see myself in the next 10 years... Lessons I learned from my own Mistakes My mother taught me that honesty is always the best policy. (even though i didnt listen) My sister taught me that schoolwork needs to be a priorety over everything. (even though i didnt listen) I Lessons ive learned from my Family Lessons i've learned from my friends To start off I will say that Coach Ron from my baseball league was a true inspiration for the few years I had him. He was Knowledgeable, nice, and always knew what to do. I looked up to him and he kept me motivated to do really well for the team. I learned from Ron that you always need to pay attention and pick up on things. And that from every situation, we can take from that and learn from that. Lessons i learned from my coach. I've learned from my bestfriend not to worry about everything, because in the end it all works out. I also learned that life is short so make the most of it, and "if the world ends, we're F***ED" I dont know, that's the beauty of it. we can make and choose our own destiny. But if i had to say anything, id say that i'd hopefully like to be settling down, with the woman of my life, with my own home buisness that i took over from my dad, living in the same house i grew up with, becuase i really like my house, just not the people in it.
