Transcript: Angela Opeka and Ameya Vaidya International Business Line Line is a freeware app used for instant communications on most electronic devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, and personal computers that originated in Japan. Line Original Purpose LINE started out as being an app for disaster response when the Tohoku earthquake in March of 2011 damaged Japan's telecommunications infastructure. Because of this, NHN Japan (A subsidiary Southern Korean company Naver) had to use internet based resources to communicate so they developed LINE. LINE was released for public use in June of 2011. Original Purpose History The company that founded LINE is called NHN Japan (Naver Corporation). When LINE was released to the public, it was proved to be hugely popular in Japan. After they experienced an unexpected server overload, they improved their ability to scale for more and more devices.. LINE reached 50 million users in under a year and eventually reached 300 million within 2 years. History The Development Process In July 3 of 2012, NHN Japan announced Home and Timeline, allowing users to share personal developments to a community in real time. The success of Line led NHN Japan to announce a spinoff company called Line Corporation which continues to develop Internet resources like Line. The Development Process Line works on multiple platforms and allows access with many personal computers (Windows/MacOS). It is avaible on the app store as well as the play store. You can sync your contacts and add friends with QR codes or by being in close proximity to each other. Accessibility Accessibility Unlike other social media apps like facebook, or instagram, LINE does not have a "voting system", meaning there is no way to "like" and post things that you would be able to using instagram. Voting System Voting System Rewards System Many apps have a way of "rewarding" users who downloaded their app to make sure they continue to use it and don't lose interest, or make it a way for users to get more involved with the app. LINE uses LINE points to entice viewers and act as a reward system. Rewards System LINE Points Line offers a variety of "challenges" that give users an opportunity to earn "LINE Points" which can be collected and then traded to buy stickers or themes that can be used within the app. LINE Points There are currently 600 million registered users and 217 million of which are monthly active users. It mainly attracts smartphone users with ages ranging from 10-19, but there are also older users for the app. Businesses and people alike use LINE to communicate whether it is with family, friends, or coworkers. Users Users There are currently no famous investors or organizations involved with LINE. Investors/Celeberties Investors/Celeberties Thanks For Watching! Thanks For Watching!
