Trans women of color are most often targeted by this violence. Born with external genitalia, internal reproductive organs, and/or endocrine systems that are different from most other people. There is no single "intersex body"; the term encompasses a wide variety of conditions that do not have anything in common except that they are deemed "abnormal" by the medical community. Not an identity category; while some intersex people do reclaim "intersex" as part of their identity, most regard it as a medical condition or just a unique physical state. It is estimated that about one in 2,000 children, or five children per day in the United States, are born visibly intersex, which prompts early (and often misguided) intervention. The "A" in LGBTQIA Betty DeGeneres — Ellen's mom — made this comparison in her book Just a Mom: "Let me suggest that we all know someone who is left-handed. Lefties make up roughly the same percentage [of the population] as gay people. And yet millions of Americans say they don't know someone who is gay. Unless those people who claim ignorance are living in a place called Fantasyland, they are most likely mistaken." >> LGBTQIA Terminology Prejudice plus power and can take many forms including racism, sexism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism and others Depression, low self-esteem, isolation 1. Transcript: Our roller coaster's design basically consists of the track wrapped around a large box. It starts out with the marble being placed in a bowl, then falling onto the track. As the marble travels down the track, it goes through multiple turns, hills, and a loop. It finishes the coaster with a roadblock. JC came up with the design, and we all agreed to it. I believe that our design process went mostly well. We may have wasted some time in the beginning with over-ambitious double loops, and may have argued a bit much. In the end, though, we all worked together and built a functional, if somewhat ugly, roller coaster. The Design Process Our Design Tim, Sam, Noah, JC We first started out with JC drawing up multiple designs on paper. After we got our supplies, we started building the roller coaster. It started out similar to the paper design, but after some testing and arguing, we had to make quite a few changes. As soon as we finished building the main coaster, we all worked on minor details and making sure it all worked. We finally named it "The Construction Zone" because it looked messy, like a construction zone. Functionality- At first, our roller coaster had some issues with the marble falling off, but after lots of testing, arguing, and tape, our roller coaster was successful almost every single time.
