Transcript of Hydrogen Spectral lines

Hydrogen Spectral lines
Aim
To know how Spectral lines can be produced
To know the significance of spectral lines
To know the link with the spectral lines of Hydrogen
What is it?
Sodium Lamps were first produced commercially by Philips in Holland in 1932.These lamps are mostly used for street lighting as well as industrial uses.
The lamp works by creating an electric arc through vaporized sodium metal. Other materials and gases are used to help start the lamp or control its color.
Practical
We wil sine a Sodium lamp through a diffraction grating and observe aany phenomena
What does it show us?
It shows us that _____ exist in _________ e______Y l_______s because the spectral lines produced bythe lamp each rep_______ el________ tran________S.
Starter
Name the members of the electromagnetic spectrum in order of increasing wavelength.
Whihc ones are dangerous and why?
The Sodium lamp
The lamp itself
The lamp works by _________ in the ________ of the Sodium a___s ab______ ene____ and moving form one l____l to another. When they reach this hig____ level they then jump back to a lower l_____l. En____ in the form of l____is then em____ at a given fre______ when the elctron returns to it o level.
And
The particular colour of the lamp depends o the fr________y of light produced by the e_________tr_______s.
