It is the fifth installment in the Fast and the Furious film series. Characters Fast Five When Dominic "Dom" Toretto is being transported to Lompoc prison by bus, his sister Mia Toretto and friend Brian O'Conner lead an assault on the bus, causing it to crash and freeing Dom. While the authorities search for them, the trio escape to Rio de Janeiro. Awaiting Dom's arrival, Mia and Brian join their friend Vince and other participants on a job to steal three cars from a train. The characters in this movie consist of a criminal family which includes Dom Toretto, sister Mia, girlfriend and others.
Dom takes the form of the boss of the whole establishment, with his big frame and deep voice he gains respect everywhere and casts fear into others. Iconography The iconography is this film is the drugs, alcohol, cheap apartments, low paid jobs, cheap cars. This basically shows that the people in the movie are struggling but are still spending money on drugs, alcohol and guns, which is making life much harder for them especially for Jody and Yvette and their young son. Narrative The narrative of the film is; Jody and Yvette having problems, but then Jody realizes he has to step up his game as Yvette's ex boyfriend goes to live with her while out on parole. The story ends with Yvette's ex boyfriend getting killed by Jody's best friend and them living happily ever after. The first movie i will be analyzing is the 2001 film 'Baby Boy' starring actors such as Teraji P. Henson, Tyrese Gibson, Snoop Dogg, Omar Gooding and many others. It is about a young 20-year-old named Jody who lives with his mother Juanita in South Central Los Angeles. He spends most of his time with his unemployed best friend P, and does not seem interested in becoming a responsible adult. However, he is forced to mature as a result of an ex-con named Melvin, who moves into their home. Another factor is his children - a son with his girlfriend Yvette and a daughter with a girl named Peanut, who also lives with her mother. Characters The characters in this movie are represented as lower class people from the ghetto. 'Jody' is represented as a very immature young man who has no intentions of growing up and taking care of his children Jody's baby mama and girlfriend plays the role of a struggling single mother who works to take care of her young son without the help of Jody. M-E-S Costumes The costumes in this movie consist of a lot of casual clothing probably because it is set in the ghetto's of LA and they can't afford fancy clothing. It also consists of a lot of the men wearing 'wifebeaters' which are usually worn by a lot of black men. Lighting The lighting of the first scene is low key lighting. This is because the first scene is very sensual and explicit and this sets the mood of the scene. Actors Low class ghetto actors trying to make a living while dealing with baby mama drama and money issues. Jody and Yvette are a couple who can't seem to get things right, she is a young mother trying to make a living to feed her son while boyfriend Jody is not ready to take care of his son and move out of his mothers house. Make up The make up is very light seeing as they are both being intimate, then while Yvette is at work she uses a touch of light make up to make her look slightly professional. The other girl who is Jody's second baby mama uses quite a bit of make up which makes her look like the slut she is. Props Themes The themes in the film are violence, which is portrayed by the use of guns. Quick scenes which were used during the shootout scene. Drugs are also another theme used in the film Sounds The sounds heard are gunshots, skidding cars, screams, cries, and explosions. Non diagetic sounds Brian O'Connor is an ex cop who got involved with Dom's sister Mia and is now considered part of the family as they are expecting their first child. Brian being an ex cop and ex driver fits well into the movie because the movie consists of driving scenes and a lot of physical action The costume in the film is very casual clothing as they roam the streets of Rio in the course of their heist. Lighting The lighting in most of the scenes are low key lighting which shows the seriousness of the scene and connotes danger. Actors The actors in this movie are all buff big guys who partake in different tasks which involve strenuous activity and physical fights as the movie goes on. Make-Up Not a lot of no mak eup is used in the scenes because they are participating in a lot of activity which really doesn't need make up. Props A lot of the props used consist of the cars they drive, the computers and monitors they are using etc basically anything that can be found in the scene. Setting The setting is in Rio De Janeiro, where the job takes place. Iconography The iconography of this movie is the guns, fast cars, explosions, car chases. They signify what the genre is showing us that this is an action movie. Narrative The narrative is what that Dom was sent to prison and his sister Mia and ex police man Brian O'Connor go to break him out and continue their looting schemes but get into a bit of trouble with the special police force sent to stop them Themes The theme of this film seems to be robbery, because the plot of the story is basically them stealing things from different countries. This can be told with the car chases, gun fights etc Sound There is a lot of non diagetic sound. The car skidding gunshots etc
