basically this song is about having an opportunity and going for it. You only get this chance once so you should take it

first verse: is about how he didn't have enough confidence in himself. The first two lines literally mean what it says because in the movie that's how it started. He gets made fun of because he isnt
is about how he makes it and becomes famous. about how he has everything now but in doing so he has grown farther from home ex. "He's grown farther from home, he's no father. he goes home and barley knows his own daughter"
he gets over everything and continues with his singing career but hes also gonna be there for his family. things are still hard for him but hes going to do the best he can ex. "and these times are so hard, and its getting even harder" "caught up between being a father and prima donna"
