Transcript of John Cabot
John Cabot was thought to be a merchant during the spice trade. He studied navigation and map-making during his time.
John Cabot was born in Genoa, Italy in 1450.
John Cabot, like Christopher Columbus, thought North america was China. But, Christopher Columbus still beat John Cabot to North America and Cabot was the second person to find North America. John Cabot eturned to England and died in 1499.
The Country that funded John Cabot's exploration was France.
John Cabot traveled for a total of two years. John cabot was born in 1450 and died in 1499. He sailed to canada in 1497. He sailed next to england next whee he died. he claimed land for England
Cabot began his preparations for the voyage at once and sailed from Bristol early in May, 1497, on the ship Matthew, with eighteen men, among whom may have been his son Sebastian. After sailing for fifty days, mainly in a westerly direction, they reached the American mainland,
The records tell us that he did not meet any native people. However, at the place where he went ashore, there were clear signs of recent human activity.
The impact he did make was really significant because he found Canada. He carried a disease and killed the natives. The first ship was damaged and went back to England for repairs with new breeds of fish. Cabot was never heard from again.
