She often lent her talents to the civil rights cause, and performed pubically in support for a family friend, Martin Luther King Jr.!
She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on March 25, 1942.
She first sang at her father's church, (he was a pastor) , The New Bethel Baptist Chuch in Detroit.
Some of her hit songs include: "Respect", "Think", " Chain of Fools", and "I Say a Little Prayer".
Aretha Franklin is still alive and sings today.
