Wicked By: Breana & Tasneem Glinda Galinda is a beautiful, spoiled, superficial, and naive girl. When Galinda arrives at Shiz University she is forced to face the fact that she’s lead a sheltered life. She realizes she is in over her head. She eventually becomes very mean towards Elphaba, because she is jealous of her. Galinda realizes Elphaba isn’t as bad as she thought she was. They begin to actually turn over new leaves and like each other. Galinda isn’t as ditsy as she may seem. She reveals some intelligence in her conversations with Elphaba. We weren’t sure of Galinda’s future as an adult, but we got an idea of who she really was beneath the surface. Galinda deals with a few identity changes throughout Wicked. She begins to identify as Glinda in honor of the deceased Doctor Dillamond. The Doctor never pronounced her name as GAlinda, but Glinda. Glinda felt like she needed a change that would relflect the changes she was experiencing internally. The shift was also a way to preserve Galinda. Glinda was the one to experience the drastic changes. Glinda has learned a lot from Elphaba. She has now come into herself. She eventually becomes the good which was basically the opposite of her original. Synopsis Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace. The plot is set mostly prior to Dorothy's arrival from Kansas, and also includes several references to well-known scenes and dialogue in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. Wicked is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. Elphaba What Is This Feeling? The relationship between Elphaba and Galinda transitions from hatred into a close friendship .In the song "What is this feeling?" both girls are attending Shiz University .The opposition of their personalities clash once they discover that they are roommates. Writing to their families, the girls complain about their new rooming situation at Shiz appointed by Madame Morrible. During the song, Elphaba and Galinda express their mutual dislike of each other. The other students side with Galinda and call her a saint for her tolerance for the "evil" Elphaba. However, during the song "Dancing through life" Galinda gives Elphaba a black witch hat to signify Elphaba's evil nature. Feeled with remorse, Galinda ends up dancing with her and reconciles with Elphaba through the song "Popular." Elphaba Thropp is a young women who is trapped in her own self. Elphaba wishes to escape herself and become someone totally different. As a child, Elphaba was a shy, silent, withdrawn, and angry girl. Due to her green pigmented skin, her family is repulsed and afraid of her. As her childhood continues into a young adulthood, she grows defensive about her skin color. She learns to accept it as an unfortunate fact of life. Elphaba struggles with seeing depth in certain things. However, Elphaba is a realist and often makes cutting, smart remarks about a variety of topics. Although filled with intentions of becoming good, her talent for sorcery and influence from others drive her to become the complete opposite. Elphaba finally gives up her good nature and becomes infamously known as the Wicked Witch Of The West. The End.......
