Sadaf Pakzad Advancement of Playstation Controllers Sony: patent on the entire system
Apple: patent on the dual shock controller Announced December 3, 1994
Created by Sony Metal Disks
Circuit Board Playstion 1 controllers were made of: Each button created a circuit when pressed
The controllers had a winged shape
Controller sensed the closed circuit and then sent this information to the system
Had a wire Analog joy sticks with resistance based on the position of the joy stick
Joy sticks have potentiometers that determined where the stick placement is
Force Feedback(Vibration)
Standard buttons
Wireless Playstion 3 controllers have: Improvements were made to improve the gaming experience and controller accuracy Playstation impact other controllers: Longer battery life
Trigger buttons less sensitive
Quicker reaction to touch If we could change the controller: The look of other controllers(wings)
Using joysticks as extra buttons when pressed
Analog joysticks Period 1
Intro to Engineering People of all ages use the controller
Anyone who owns a Playstation must use this controller Users of controller: Impact on Society Created greater competition
Pushed records of gaming system sales Impact on Environment Can be recycled/re used
Design and development created to not cause a negative impact on the environment Ceramics and Material Engineering: Creates the body of the
controller with simple means
Computer Engineering: Creates the chips/boards used
Electrical Engineering: Creates parts of chips/boards used
Environmental Engineering: Keeps controllers environmentally safe Engineering Disciplines -the brand was first introduced on December 3, 1994 in Japan.

-It was part of the fifth generation of video game consoles competing against the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64.

By March 31, 2005, the PlayStation 1 had shipped a combined total of 102.49 million units becoming the first video game console to sell 100 million units.

-In 2009, the redesigned model of the PlayStation 3 was released. It is 33% smaller, 36% lighter, consumes 34% to 45% less power, features a redesigned cooling system, and a smaller Cell processor.
