Nancy Johnson
Invented: Ice Cream Maker

When: 1843

Why: "...to bring the art of home made ice cream to the masses..."
Who was nancy?
She lived from 1795 - 1890
Was a Philadelphia housewife
Invented the small scale hand cranked ice cream maker
How did the ice cream maker work?
1. This is where the salt and ice went.
2. The ice cream mixture containing milk, sugar and flavoring goes here. This goes inside of the bigger can.
3. This goes inside of the smaller can. The handle allows you to crank the ice cream around until it freezes and turns to ice cream!
I Cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
Since Nancy invented the hand cranked maker, ice cream was able to be made in homes and is one of the main reasons why we can get ice cream almost anywhere! Could you imagine life without ice cream? I know I couldn't!
