S What are they? a type of word that connects ideas and allows you to combine sentences
only seven CCs in total
For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So How can I remember them?

Well, they are.... How do I use them? Put them between words, phrases, and sentences When between two sentences (SV), put a comma before the conjunction. How do I use them? WORDS: I like apples and oranges.
PHRASES: I like eating apples and throwing oranges.
SENTENCES: I like apples, and I throw oranges. Why does this matter? They let you show relationships between ideas.
They help readers understand you better.
They help you be more concise. I eat apples and oranges. I can be healthy. I hate lemons and cantaloupe. They are disgusting. I eat apples. I eat oranges. I can be healthy. I hate lemons. I hate cantaloupe. They are disgusting. This is so boring and confusing! This is shorter, so it's less boring. I still don't understand. I eat apples and oranges, so I can be healthy. Lemons and cantaloupe are disgusting. You combined sentences to show relationships with less words.
I'M SO EXCITED!!! Your reader Your reader Your reader I like apples, and I throw oranges. I like apples and throw oranges. S V S V S V V SV, CC SV SV CC V Both are correct. It's up to you which way to write it! What are the seven coordinating conjunctions? Try to remember them without looking back in the presentation. Practice I 1) Ramen is tasty and easy to cook.

2) I can add cheese or kimchi to my ramen but I prefer to eat it plain.

3) Once, I cooked my ramen in milk and ate just the noodles yet that was really strange.

4) In order to make a choco-ramen waffle, I fried the noodles and I covered them with chocolate .

5) Experimenting with and eating ramen are great hobbies. Practice III Put a CC in the blank. Use commas well. There are likely multiple answers, so experiment with them. How does the meaning change? 1) After school, I enjoy cooking dinner _______ watching TV.

2) I usually watch dramas _______ movies _______ sometimes I watch music videos too.

3) I also love to study English _______ it's so exciting _______ definitely not boring.

4) I love English, cooking, and watching TV _______ maybe I should combine my hobbies by watching English TV after school _______using English recipes for dinner. While there are more complicated situations with coordinating conjunctions and commas, the information in this presentation will help you in most circumstances.

Pay careful attention to coordinating conjunctions. Even though the rule is somewhat simple, it is the most common mistake I see related to the grammar we learn in class. 1) Ramen is tasty and easy to cook.

2) I can add cheese or kimchi to my ramen, but I prefer to eat it plain.

3) Once, I cooked my ramen in milk and ate just the noodles, yet that was really strange.

4) In order to make a choco-ramen waffle, I fried the noodles, and I covered them with chocolate .

5) Experimenting with and eating ramen are great hobbies. Answers Practice II I eat apples and oranges. I can be healthy. I hate lemons and cantaloupe. They are disgusting. Answers 1) After school, I enjoy cooking dinner _______(NO COMMA) watching TV.

2) I usually watch dramas _______ (NO COMMA) movies _______ (COMMA) sometimes I watch music videos too.

3) I also love to study English _______ (COMMA- for) it's so exciting _______ (NO COMMA) definitely not boring.

4) I love English, cooking, and watching TV _______(COMMA- so) maybe I should combine my hobbies by watching English TV after school _______(NO COMMA) using English recipes for dinner. I cannot give you all the answers because many CCs can fill the blanks. However, I can tell you if they need commas or not.
