Conflict Description
A group called The Young Lords comes into El Berrio and attempt to take over the town. Some things this group did to make a scene were vandalizing the town, tipping trash cans and even lighting the garbage on fire. This caused such a large scene it made the headlines in the news. Because of this, Evelyn's family falls apart from her grandmother tries taking over Evelyn's house.
Characters
Mami
: Evelyn's mom who's is dependent on other people.
Evelyn
: she is independent. Doesn't look up to her mom. She doesn't like to be around her parents.
Abuela
: Very demanding of others and she thinks she's right all the time. Sassy grandma ;D.

: a group ran by teenagers who try to start a revolution.

Fourteen-year-old Rosa María Evelyn del Carmen Serrano is annoyed with life in El Barrio. She is tired of working for her mother and step dad in their bodega (a small shop). She then gets her own job at the local five-and-dime, hoping to make summer pass by faster. After her grandma arrives, everything changes. Taking over Evelyns bedroom, sharing hidden family secrets.
When a group called The Young Lords invades the town and begins working to bring positive changes to the town (that is not theirs). They are trying very much so to make a scene and cause a comotion by doing some unnecessary things such as lighting a garage can on fire. Some people in the town are against this group, including Evelyn's mom. Evelyn begins to take interest with the group, much like her grandmother. As summer months pass, the 3 generations of girls start to see each others perspectives and Evelyn realizes how important her Puerto Rican heritage really is.
