Charles Manson Ed Gein The Zodiac Killer Charles manson: this serial killer made himself into the definition of evil. He was the leader of a cult known as "the family", which he formed in 1967. the members were emotionally troubled teenage girls for the most part. He got them hooked on drugs and convinced them to go on kiling sprees against the rich to provide money for "the family". afterwards, they would write messages with blood on the walls of the house. General Psychology Behavioral Analysis Ed Gein was an infamous serial killer who has become the inspiration of multiple horror movie characters, from Hannibal Lecter of "Silence Of The Lambs", to Leatherface of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Ed gein was knows to skin his victims devour corpses, and decorate his home with parts of his victims bodies. He even used their skin as cloth for clothing and furniture. The Zodiac Killer is still a mystery to this day. he is attributed to 5 murders in North Carolina in the 1960's. His ideal targets were men and woman between the ages of 16 and 29. With every victim he left a taunting sign of a crosshair like symbol along with a letter to the police. Some of his more criptic messages have still not been decoded. Some general characteristics of potential serial killers include:
The majority of serial killers are single white males. There are however, several recorded cases of non-caucasian serial killers documented.
They are more often than not highly educated and extremely intelligent with above average IQ's.
Despite the fact that they have above average IQ's, they find it difficult to hold down a high end jobs and often settle for lesser careers.
They more often than not come from an unstable family.
They are often abandoned by their fathers as a child and raised by a dominating mother.
A high rate of serial killers were abused emotionally, physically, or sexually. usually a family member.
60% of serial killers wet the bed beyond the age of 12.
They have high rates of suicide attempts.
Most enjoy or are fascinated by fire starting.
They often start by torturing small animals and other sadistic behavior.

Despite popular belief, psychosis is rarely diognosed among serial killers. The dominating diognosis leans more towards psychopathic, this means that they suffer from a few multiple yet distinct disfunctional personality characteristics. The most notable being antisocial personality disorders. psychopaths don't feel guilt or empathy. Instead they are completely egotistic and impulsive. Some however, can adapt to this and seem completely normal or even charming. this state of adaption is known as "the mask of sanity."
